Do Fortress part numbers confuse you?

Safety Switches for Automation

At Ashdale we are proud to be a distributor for Fortress Interlocks and have been representing and supporting the product in Northern Ireland for over 30 years.

📘 Fortress launches new Safety Switches for Automation brochure which simplifies the range into three categories; heavy duty, medium duty and compact interlocks.

✅ Creating an interlock doesn't always have to be a complex process! Sometimes all you need is a safety switch to monitor when a guard is open, or a guard lock to prevent access until it is safe to enter a secure area.

What is Heavy Duty? - Heavy Duty Safety Switches are for use where robustness and strength is paramount and for protecting heavy machinery in dusty, dirty environments. Heavy Duty Locking actuators have a head retention force of 10,000N and can be used in systems up to Performance Level e.

What is
Medium Duty? - Medium Duty Safety Switches are for use with lightweight machinery. Medium Duty Locking actuators have a head retention force of 2,500N and can be used in systems up to Performance Level d.

What are Compact Switches? - Compact Switches are perfect for space limiting, short radius applications, up to Performance Level e. Compact Locking actuators have a head retention force of 8,000N and are high-coded to minimise system defeat.

What is a Safety Switch?
A safety switch creates a stop command upon a guard opening. The access request is signalled via a positive break to the dual channel safety as the guard is opened.

What is Guard Locking? Safety switches with guard locking prevent access through a guard until is it safe to enter using solenoid control. The solenoid provides the locking mechanism to enable a run down time to elapse before access is permitted.
